Job Summary:

We are hiring a Public Relations and Communication Officer who is responsible for developing and executing effective communication strategies that enhance the organization’s image, promote its services, and ensure consistent and positive engagement with stakeholders, the media, and the general public. This role involves crafting clear and compelling content for various platforms, managing media relations, coordinating public events, and supporting internal communication initiatives. This position plays a critical role in shaping public perception and advancing the company’s goals through impactful storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and distribute content to promote the organization’s brand, services, and activities across various channels;
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with media professionals and maintain a comprehensive media contact database;
  • Liaise with relevant government bodies, stakeholders, and partners to support positive and transparent communication;
  • Identify and craft compelling stories for internal and external platforms, including the organization’s website and social media;
  • Ensure brand consistency across all communications materials and digital platforms;
  • Organize and support media engagements, such as press conferences and public events, including the preparation of briefing materials and press kits;
  • Write and edit a wide range of materials, including press releases, brochures, speeches, newsletters, social media posts, and web content;
  • Prepare communication plans and campaigns to raise awareness of the organization’s achievements and initiatives;
  • Regularly gather content and manage the communications calendar, reporting weekly progress to the Communications Director;
  • Identify target audiences and tailor communication strategies accordingly;
  • Support internal communication efforts, including the production of in-house magazines, case studies, and annual reports;Manage responses to media inquiries, organize press briefings, and coordinate public statements as needed;
  • Proofread and ensure the accuracy and quality of all communication materials;
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Director of Public Relations and the communications team.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and desktop publishing tools;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in editing and content development;
  • Creative thinking and ability to develop engaging, audience-targeted content;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities under pressure;

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in public relations, communications, or related areas such as media, marketing, or publications.
